Kyllinga is a small community with an estimated population of around 600 people. It is located a few kilometres from the border with Togo. With its beautiful scenery and remote location, Kyllinga offers an opportunity for a unique tourism experience and also a chance to learn about its traditional lifestyle, culture, religion, local language and customs. In daily life, traditional beliefs still pay an important role, as shown by the shrines in the village and artefacts etc. Observe the distinctive funeral rituals, in which the deceased are buried in their own hut in a sitting position, giving new meaning to ‘pouring libation ’ for the ancestors.
Take a car to the foot of the mountain, 14 km from Nkwanta. Stop at Shiare for a drink before proceeding to Kyllinga (3 hours). It is best to stay one or more nights before walking back (3 hours).
